A glimpse into who I am

Hello, I’m Karuna Sunil Chawla – the initiator of The BodyMine, a space of embodied inquiry and inner healing.

I walk the path of a student, a seeker, and a witness to the deep intelligence that lives within the human body. My work is shaped by my training in Somatic Experiencing®, Family Constellation Therapy and EFT, and is deeply rooted in yogic philosophy, nature, cosmic curiosity, and personal transformation.

I hold reverence for the body's wisdom and the stories it holds – not just of this lifetime, but of generations. Through The BodyMine, I offer a space where these stories can be felt, honoured, and released with grace.

From Within: My Path to Healing

A personal path of self-healing through somatic wisdom and spiritual practice.

My journey into conscious, wilful self-healing began in December 2011, when I was introduced to Inner Engineering by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, India. Through simple yet profound yogic practices and breathwork, I experienced a shift—one that revealed a fundamental truth: the key to healing my trauma did not lie in the external world, but within the intelligence of my own body.

It was the 21-minute daily practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya that first helped me connect with the embodied aspects of my nervous system. Over time, I began to experience a sense of grounding and resilience—not only in my physical body, but also in my psychological and emotional states. I realised that while external circumstances may trigger or influence our experiences, the roots of both pain and healing reside within.

This insight began to shift my orientation from reactivity to responsibility, from external seeking to internal knowing.

Work & Life Excerpts

The intersections of being – within and without.

I am a yogini at heart. Since a young age, I’ve felt drawn to the mysteries of the cosmos and the ancient sciences that attempt to understand it. This curiosity led me to explore a wide tapestry of disciplines – from astronomy, art, and literature to the Patanjali Sutras, Sanatan Dharma, sacred geometry, epigenetics, psychology, tantra, and even ufology.

I find solace in mountains and trees, resonance in trance music, and creative flow in writing, painting, and journaling. My spiritual path is deeply anchored in my devotion to Lord Shiva.

I am a learner of many things—a student of astrophysics, and a student of neurodivergent learning through my time teaching autistic children, whose uninhibited expression of emotion first drew me toward bodywork. These children responded to the world through pure sensation: their joy, their discomfort, their pain – all unfiltered. Watching them reminded me of what most of us have forgotten – that we are constantly sensing beings, conditioned to hide, suppress, and perform. This disconnect creates inner rifts that manifest as suffering.

The human body, I’ve come to realise, is a miraculous instrument – capable of restoring equilibrium, if only we listen to it. As a Somatic Experiencing® therapist and an advanced EFT Practitioner, I bring this awareness into every session: that healing is not something we do, it is something the body does – when given safety, stillness, and space to self-regulate.
